CSV is fast for tabular editing and JSON is better for nested structure. The key is knowing which format should be your editing source and which one should be your transport or integration source. Converting too early often creates data loss, especially around commas, line breaks, empty values, and nested fields.

- Use JSON when the destination expects field names, arrays, or nested objects.
- Validate the result before you paste data into a tool, sheet, or API request.
1. Normalize the source first
Before conversion, fix inconsistent headers, blank columns, odd separators, and duplicated labels. Cleaner headers create cleaner JSON keys.
2. Convert in the direction the destination expects
For dashboards and spreadsheets, convert JSON to a table. For APIs and developer handoff, convert CSV rows into JSON objects.
3. Inspect the output visually
Open the result in JSON to Table or CSV to Table to catch shifted columns, missing fields, and formatting issues before export.
4. Beautify or clean the final text
Run JSON Beautify or Text Cleaner on the result so teammates can read it, diff it, and reuse it more easily.

Questions and answers
Why do columns shift?
A comma or line break inside a CSV value must be enclosed in double quotes. A quote inside that value must be doubled. Also check that the selected delimiter matches your file.
Does CSV preserve JSON value types?
CSV has no built-in JSON number or boolean types. This converter returns CSV fields as strings on CSV-to-JSON conversion. Check types before using the result in an API.
What happens to nested objects?
Nested JSON objects become JSON text in a CSV cell. They are not automatically rebuilt as nested objects when converting back.
How much data can I paste?
The CSV/JSON converter accepts up to 200,000 characters. The separate table viewers have their own limits. Split larger inputs rather than assuming a preview contains every row.
